5 dead, 19 hurt in weekend shootings, including 12 wounded in mass shooting

At least five people were killed and 19 others were injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday afternoon.

Among those injured, 12 people were wounded in a mass shooting in Roseland on the South Side. Chicago police said a large crowd had gathered in the 200 block of West 95th Street when a red SUV drove by and two people inside opened fire shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds to her back. She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 44-year-old man suffered four graze wounds and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. They were in good condition, police said.

At least 10 others were also injured, with the victims ranging between 17 and 47 years old:

  • A 38-year-old woman suffered graze wounds to the body and self-transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition.
  • A 47-year-old man was shot in the knee and self- transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair condition.
  • A 36-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition.
  • A 32-year-old man was shot in the head and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition.
  • A 32-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition. 
  • A 17-year-old boy was shot in the thigh and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in critical condition. 
  • A 22-year-old woman was shot in the thigh and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
  • A 30-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in fair condition.
  • A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times in the body and self-transported to Trinity Hospital in fair condition. 
  • A 26-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Hours earlier, a man was standing on the sidewalk in the 11900 block of South Michigan Avenue when an SUV drove by and opened fire around 5:15 p.m. The man, 29, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body and was taken to Roseland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 70-year-old man who was nearby was also shot. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition.

A 33-year-old man was found shot to death around 8:55 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 30th Street. He was shot several times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A man, 34, was found just before 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Latrobe Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Less than an hour later, officers found a 50-year-old man shot in the chest in the first block of West 75th Street. The man was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A 37-year-old man was killed early Saturday in the 500 block of West 38th Street. The man was found around 12:15 a.m. with a gunshot wound in the neck. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

At least six other people were wounded in shootings since 5 p.m. Friday.
