A Heathrow Airport terminal was briefly evacuated for a second day running, sending crowds of people outside Terminal 3 this morning.

About 20 airlines including American Airlines, Delta and Virgin Atlantic run out of Terminal 3 of the West London airport.

But social media users revealed at around 9.30an this morning that a ‘suspicious package’ had been found, with the building being quickly evacuated.

It’s understood the terminal was emptied as staff investigated a bag, with the evacuation response lasting under an hour.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: ‘That’s everyone at the Delta/Virgin Atlantic terminal at Heathrow being told to leave then. Oh dear.’

Another added: ‘Great, I was in line to drop my luggage off at Heathrow and they are evaluating the terminal because of a security incident.’

A passenger said: ‘T3 evacuated at London Heathrow due to suspicious package found.’

Users posted photographs of crowds of people forming outside the terminal building.

The incident has since been stood down and passengers have returned to the terminal, causing next to no impact on Heathrow’s operation.

The airport’s departure board is showing no delays or cancellations related to the incident.

This was the third incident to upend the airport, with ‘unknown fumes’ reported on Sunday seeing riders rushed off a plane at Terminal 5 on Sunday.

Yesterday, Terminal 4 was evacuated for half an hour due to a man pulling the alarm at the Elizabeth line station for the terminal.
