The Loose Women have reacted to Liz Truss becoming the new Prime Minister – and Brenda Edwards is feeling optimistic.
It was announced today that Ms Truss will take over from Boris Johnson after beating fellow Conservative Party member Rishi Sunak by 21,000 votes.
Ms Truss, currently the Foreign Secretary, will be asked to form a government tomorrow after Johnson officially steps down.
Sharing their thoughts on the new leader, Brenda was the panel member most hopeful about Ms Truss’ leadership, speaking on the ITV daytime show slightly later than billed after the news ate into their time.
She admitted to being someone who ‘never used to vote’, but now she’s ‘feeling good’ that Ms Truss has been voted in.
Revealing that Ms Truss was her ‘preference’ after watching her in debates, Brenda now believes she is ‘going to deliver’ with her ‘finger on the pulse’.

‘I’m glad there’s a woman in there’, she said.
Brenda also praised Ms Truss for being from a ‘working class background’, but colleague Janet Street-Porter was not feeling as positive about the new leader.
Notorious for being outspoken, especially when it comes to her political views, Janet told Brenda she would ask her ‘in a year’ whether she was still in favour of Ms Truss and was particularly vocal about the forthcoming PM’s policies regarding the cost of living crisis.

‘Liz promised everything but the kitchen sink,’ Janet began.
‘Unless people can heat their homes by cucumbers, which are now £1, we will be very miserable indeed.’

Nowhere near as hopeful as her co-star, JSP reckons ‘the wheels are gonna come off’ very quickly for Ms Truss, not confident that she can ‘deliver it all’.
‘A lot of what she’s proposing benefit people already in work!’

As for the rest of the panel, Christine Lampard was more neutral with her views, claiming she’s just glad to know who the new Tory leader is going to be after feeling ‘leaderless’ for a few weeks now.
Saying she ‘just wanted someone to get in’, now the winner of the leadership race has been confirmed, Christine urged Ms Truss to ‘start working’ straight away after meeting with the Queen tomorrow.
