The Bears brought back long snapper Scott Daly after rookie Beau Gardner struggled through his first two games.
They claimed him from the Saints practice squad Tuesday, cutting Gardner.
Daly played on the team’s active roster Sunday.
Daly returns to the Bears after playing all 34 regular-season games for them from 2024-25. They let him leave via free agency in the spring, choosing to rely on two young options during training camp. The Notre Dame alum signed with the Buccaneers, who cut him Aug. 31. He spent two weeks with the Packers before joining the Saints.
Daly, who went to Downers Grove South High School, will reunite with kicker Cairo Santos and punter Tory Taylor. The trio proved successful during their two years together.
Coach Ben Johnson hinted that he’d make a change at long snapper on Monday, one day after a high snap from Gardner led to the Vikings blocking a potential game-tying field goal late in the fourth quarter.
The Bears also signed cornerback Nick McCloud, who also played for them last year, to the practice squad after Tyrique Stevenson hurt his hamstring. Practice squad offensive lineman Kyle Hergel was cut.
