The U.S. Small Business Administration plans to establish Disaster Loan Outreach Centers for people impacted by three rounds of storms that ravaged the Chicago area last month.
The centers are set to open July 15 and run through July 30, and will have representatives available to help answer questions about the disaster loan program, explain the application process and help with applications. Walki-ns will be accepted, and appointments can be made online.
Homeowners and renters can apply for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property such as appliances and furniture, as well as up to $500,000 in low-interest loans to repair or replace real estate damaged or destroyed during the storms June 10, June 11, and June 17.
Businesses and qualifying nonprofits can apply to borrow up to $2 million for damages. The deadline to apply for physical property damage is Sept. 8, though economic injury applications have until next April.
The Chicago locations will be at two Chicago Public Library branches: Pullman, 11001 S. Indiana Ave., and Thurgood Marshall, 7506 S. Racine Ave.
The Pullman branch will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; the Thurgood Marshall branch will be open at the same times on opposite days. Both will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
A Blue Island location will be at 2434 Vermont St., and another in Alsip at 4500 West 123rd Street. Both will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
LaSalle, Coles and Effingham counties will also get their own offices. The nearest office and its hours can be found on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s website.
