Seven people were injured after a fire broke out in the trash chute of an apartment building in Greater Grand Crossing on Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to the high-rise building in the first block of West 71st Street around 6 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department said.
Fire officials said the fire started in the building’s trash chute.
The building was evacuated but seven people were injured in the fire and hospitalized, fire officials said. Four people were in good condition and three were in fair condition. Twelve other people refused treatment.
No other information was immediately available.
