The Cubs have postponed their afternoon game as a steady downpour heads for Chicago Sunday afternoon and through the evening.
National Weather Service forecasters expect a “steady soaking rainfall” that could cause flooding in some parts of the metro area — particularly near and south of I-88.
As a result, the Cubs postponed their 1:20 p.m. game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The make-up game is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.
The weather agency also warned the impending storm could bring dangerous waves along Lake Michigan beaches. Some waves could crest between 4 and 7 feet, posing a threat to swimmers and creating choppy conditions for boats.
The high Sunday is 72, and the low is 56.
Conditions should be dry Monday and Tuesday, according to the weather service. A chance for storms returns Wednesday.
