Police are searching for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman Saturday afternoon in LaBagh Woods on the far Northwest Side.
The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in a heavily wooded area off-trail on the eastern side of the preserve, about 500 feet from the parking lot, according to Forest Preserves of Cook County Police.
The victim, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to Swedish Hospital and has since been released, police said.
The man suspected of the assault was described by police as a white male, about 6-feet tall with a long, brown and blond beard reaching to his chest. He was wearing a dark shirt, black beanie hat, dark sunglasses and a zip-up black jacket with a red stripe on the shoulder, police said.
Forest Preserves Police, Chicago police and the Cook County sheriff’s office have been canvassing the area since the incident and have placed heightened attention on LaBagh Woods, including increased patrols of the preserve, police said.
Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call 911.
