NASCAR Cup Series Driver Joey Logano Admits Frustration Over 12th Place Standing

Joey Logano is not satisfied with his early position in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series standings after seven races. The Team Penske driver sits 12th with 185 points, trailing leader Tyler Reddick by 168 points.

Reddick has opened the season with four wins, while Logano is still without a victory. The gap has drawn attention as the Cup Series playoff race begins to take shape. Logano addressed his results and the current standings during a SiriusXM NASCAR Radio interview, explaining how quickly positions can change early in the season and why the focus remains on building momentum.

Joey Logano Reacts to 12th Place Start

Logano made it clear he is not satisfied with where he stands. “No, I’m not okay. And no, we shouldn’t be okay with it either,” he said.

He pointed to the current NASCAR standings and the need to move forward. “But the points are what they are right now. There’s not much you can do about the past. You just have to keep grinding and moving forward.”

Through seven races, Logano has recorded two top-five finishes and two top-10 results. He also earned one pole position. A single DNF affected his overall consistency. However, he showed improvement at Martinsville Speedway on March 29, delivering a stronger run that helped stabilize his position in the standings.

NASCAR Cup Series Standings Remain Within Reach

Despite the gap to the top, Logano said the Cup Series points battle is still close. “There’s still a long way to go in the season. Everyone knows Tyler Reddick is a long way out front, but getting back into the top five is still achievable. It’s right there in front of us, and it’s still pretty close.”

He explained that a short stretch of strong results can quickly change a driver’s position. “If you put together a couple of strong races, you can be back in the top five before you know it because the standings are tight.”

With 29 races remaining, the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race remains open. Drivers continue to gain and lose ground each week as results shift the points picture.

Early Season Movement Shows How Fast Points Can Change

Logano pointed to recent changes in the standings as proof of how quickly things can move. “Just look at Bubba Wallace. He was second in points two races ago. It changes really quickly, especially since it’s still early in the season and the points are close.”

The early stage of the 2026 season has seen several drivers move in and out of key positions. Team Penske continues to focus on performance and race execution as it looks to close the gap.

Logano, a former Cup Series champion, remains focused on building momentum. With a long schedule still ahead, consistent finishes and stage points will play a key role in shaping the playoff field. NASCAR observers continue to watch how quickly the 12th-place driver can climb the standings as the season develops.
