MAGA-aligned U.S. Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) is being called out by critics on social media for her 5-word post today on X. Mace wrote concisely: “No U.S. Troops in Iran” after voting down the War Powers resolution earlier this month that would have given Congress more say in President Trump’s prosecution of the war.
Mace’s statement drew attention as approximately “2,500 U.S. Marines are reportedly heading for the Middle East along with an amphibious warship,” according to multiple news sources, including PBS. The deployment comes after Trump announced that Iran’s military has been “decimated” by the U.S. and Israeli bombing campaign.
Social media influencer Clint Russell replied to Mace: “You voted against the war powers resolution two weeks ago which was literally your only ability to stop this war. You abdicated your duty to the American people and our soldiers. You cheered on the bombing campaigns. Now you want to pretend to oppose this.”
After voting against the War Powers resolution “without hesitation,” Mace, who in 1999 became the first female to graduate from Citadel’s Corps of Cadets, wrote: “This resolution would have ordered President Trump to stand down military operations against Iran’s terrorist regime mid-operation. This is not only reckless, it is a direct threat to our national security.”

Mace added in her statement about her war powers vote: “Let’s be clear about what Iran is. They are the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. They have murdered American citizens, brutally executed their own people, threatened our national security, and even plotted to assassinate President Trump.
“President Trump is doing what needs to be done. Forcing a halt mid-operation doesn’t protect Americans, it empowers our enemies, undermines our military, and puts American lives at risk.
“This is not the time for Congress to tie the hands of our Commander-in-Chief. We must finish the job.”
[NOTE: The war powers legislation came up for a vote after the attacks in Iran started, a situation unlike Congress’s participation in the preparation for the 2003 Iraq war, where the Bush administration sought Congress’s approval before launching an invasion.]
Yesterday, Mace released a video from Ben Gurion Airport in Israel, where she said she’s “helping to evacuate American citizens out of a war zone.” As seen below, she said: “We have 155 on our flight manifest. Lots of babies and young families and a lot of students.” Mace added, “There aren’t enough planes, there’s not enough money to get these folks out fast enough.”
