TV legend, 78, quits acclaimed ITV drama after 13 years

Brenda Blethyn has quit her role as the lead of ITV drama Vera, it’s been announced.

The legendary actress has played the titular role of DCI Vera Stanhope since series 1, which premiered in 2011.

After filming the 14th series, the 78-year-old has decided that it’s time for her to stand down, as the show commences filming its final series.
