A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an eight-year-old boy who hasn’t been seen for two years.
Kyran Durnin, from Co Louth in Ireland, was reported missing alongside his mother Dayla, 24, in August this year.
Although police were told he’d been seen two days earlier, they revealed in October that they believe he may have been killed two years ago.
Today a woman, believed to be in her 20s, was been arrested on suspicion of Kyran’s murder.
The woman, understood to be well known to Kyran, was arrested after arriving back in Ireland of her own volition.
Kyran’s body has not been found.
He hasn’t been seen since May 2022, when he was a pupil at a primary school in the town of Dundalk where he had lived in a house for several years.
Police searched the property as part of the murder investigation in October.
Its current tenants are not connected to Kyran or his disappearance, police said.
