Two women were allegedly shot and fed to pigs by a white farmer in South Africa – sparking outrage across the country.

Maria Makgato, 45, and Lucia Ndlovu, 34, were ‘searching for food’ on the farm in Polokwane, South Africa, when they were shot and killed.

Farm owner Zachariah Johannes Olivier, 60, and his employees Adrian de Wet, 19, and William Musora, 50, are facing murder charges.

It’s alleged they fed the women’s bodies to pigs on the farm in an attempt to dispose of evidence.

The only survivor of the ordeal was Ms Ndlovu’s husband, who was with the women when they were allegedly attacked.

Mabutho Ncube survived and managed to crawl away and call for help on August 17 – but days later he found the decomposing bodies of his wife and Ms Makgato in a pigsty.

Mabutho said he was with police officers when they made the sickening discovery.

Ms Makgato was a mother to four sons, ranging in age from 22 years old to just five.

Her oldest, Ranti Makgato, told the BBC: ‘My mum died a painful death, she was a loving mother who did everything for us. We lacked nothing because of her.

‘I think I’ll sleep better at night if the alleged killers are denied bail.’

The three men appeared in court today to see if they would be granted bail. They were met with families of the victims and protestors outside.

Magistrate Ntilane Felleng adjourned the bail hearing until early November to allow officers to investigate the murders further.

The three men remain in custody.
