Arne Slot has revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a return ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
The Premier League leaders, who are two points clear at the top of the Champions League table, host Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, missed Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday due to the hamstring injury he suffered before the international break.
However, the right-back trained with his teammates on Tuesday and Slot has revealed that he could feature against Madrid if needed.
Conor Bradley, who started against Southampton, is set to keep his place in the team for the match against Madrid, who are currently 18th in the Champions League table and are three points off an automatic spot in the knockout phase.

‘Trent is in the squad but he will not be available to start,’ Slot said on Tuesday.
‘He can maybe make a few minutes, in an ideal world he maybe doesn’t, but if it is really necessary he can make a few minutes tomorrow but he is not going to start.
‘Federico is not in the squad yet. He is training with us, not the whole session, but mostly one or two parts of the session.
‘Harvey Elliott is in the team but hasn’t played for a long time competitive football so, he is there, but of course not ready to start.
‘Alisson is not there yet, Diogo is not there yet, Kostas is not there – he is having an injury as well, so it’s quite a list for us as well.’
