A clip of John Oliver celebrating ‘washing the Tories away’ after the General Election on July 4 is going viral on social media, even though it’s been banned from UK screens.

The American comedian, 47, blasted the Conservative Party in a recent episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver with an expletive outburst.

In the clip, he’s being showered with ‘rain’ in the studio, shouting out: ‘On July 4, Britain has a chance to wash itself clean of 14 miserable years of Conservative rule, and it’s a chance it simply must take.’

He then slams: ‘If we do this, the 4th of July will no longer be known as just an American holiday, but also as the day when Britain looked at the Conservatives who have driven the entire country into a ditch and said in one voice, loud and clear: F**k off into the sun, you c**ts, f**kpigs and weirdos, you t**sers, w**kers, d**ksplashers and c**kwopples.

‘If Britain stands together this July 4, it will finally celebrate its Independence Day!’

The live audience couldn’t hold back their cheers after John’s rant, and those watching at home were no different.

‘Superb,’ JPC praised, while @YorkyRach wrote: ‘This just made my morning.’

Andy added: ‘If ever there was someone who summed up how Britain feels right now, it’s John Oliver.’

Others noticed the episode was unable to watch in the UK, and discovered that it’s been banned for now.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver usually airs on HBO in America, and on Sky in the UK.

But during election coverage, watchdog Ofcom ensures impartiality in TV and radio coverage.

Guidance issued in 2017 states: ‘It is not acceptable for presenters to use their position to encourage and urge voters to support political parties or candidates.’

TV critic Scott Bryan also clarified on X: ‘Ofcom doesn’t allow such stuff during an election run, so this won’t air in the UK until after July 4th.’

This isn’t the first time the controversial host has been censored in the UK, after it was claimed Sky removed his jibes relating to Queen Elizabeth II shortly after her death.

He later spoke out on the decision, saying: ‘All we said was that Britain is still mourning the shocking loss — right? — of a 96-year-old woman from natural causes. It’s literally not a joke.

‘Scientifically, it’s not a joke. That’s just a fact with a kind of …read more
