People rushed to hospital after car ploughs into busy street in central London

Three people are in hospital after a car mounted the pavement outside of a central London restaraunt.

Police are still on scene, with a cordon in place after a the black car struck people in Piccadilly Circus, near a steak restaurant.

A passerby, believed to be struck by the car, was taken to hospital, along with a passenger and the driver of the car.

The Met police said in a statement: ‘Police were called at approximately 18:50hrs on Tuesday, 12 November to reports of a collision involving a car in Coventry Street, junction with Haymarket, SW1.

‘Witnesses reported a car mounted the pavement before colliding with a building. Two people – a pedestrian and a passenger who was in the car – were taken to hospital for treatment.’

The driver was not seriously injured, but was taken to hospital as well, police said.

No other injuries were reported, but road closures remain in place as enquiries continue, they said.

The incident is not terror-related.
