A new streaming service has been launched in the UK to rival the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and BBC iPlayer, with more than 20,000 films and TV episodes already available – for free.

Tubi, which has an ad-supported model, is owned by Robert Murdoch’s Fox Corporation in the US, but as of today is making its cinematic and televisual wares available to watch over here.

From Tuesday, British viewers will have access to Tubi’s website, Tubitv.com, which is offering movies including the full Twilight saga, Happy Gilmore, 2018’s version of Robin Hood with Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx and Kill Bill: Vol 1 and 2.

Even better, all of these movies are not behind a paywall and totally free to watch –a far cry from the hefty cost of renting or buying them digitally.

What’s more, it might be one of the easiest ways to watch a film or TV show online as you’re not even required to sign up for an account to see something on Tubi.

You can simply scroll through the titles, divided into genres such as comedy, family movies, sci-fi and fantasy, horror and romance, and click play on anything that catches your eye.

The new streaming service pulls content from several different major studios, including Disney, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment and NBCUniversal.

UK viewers also have access to Tubi’s own originals, which currently include shark attack film Blind Waters, reality show House of Heat and several Vice News documentaries.

Other notable titles available on Tubi are popular Gerard Butler thriller Olympus Has Fallen, serial killer horror Candyman, Slow West starring Michael Fassbender and another Quentin Tarantino classic: Jackie Brown.

You can also watch Sofia Coppola’s 2017 version of The Beguiled with Nicole Kidman, or Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in the star-studded cast of period comedy thriller Amsterdam from 2022.

And rom-com fans fear not, for a little digging has uncovered gems including Wimbledon, Love & Other Drugs and (in the so bad it’s good category) Leap Year! There are campy cult favourites and stone cold classics too in the form of Cruel Intentions and seminal screwball comedy My Man Godfrey.

British TV shows that have episodes on the platform currently include Location, Location, Location and The Secret History of the British Garden, as well as Paul Hollywood’s Pies & Puds and Mary Berry’s Foolproof Cooking.
