If there’s one thing you have to get when you order a McDonald’s, it’s some kind of sauce.

Having something to dip your fries into is a must, regardless of whether it’s tomato ketchup, mayo or BBQ sauce.

But if your go-to option is the fast food chain’s sweet and sour sauce, then we might have some bad news for you. (And no, it’s not about what’s really in it…)

Maccies fans have been taking to the internet to claim the popular product has had a recipe change, and they aren’t very happy with the new taste.

A woman named Demi (@demmmx92) shared a video on TikTok comparing two similar looking pots of sweet and sour sauce from McDonald’s.

‘McDonald’s sweet and sour sauce has changed,’ she tells viewers. She then zooms in on the ingredients list on the lid of each pot, showing how there are subtle differences between the two.

The ‘old’ pot features apricot puree, soy sauce, and a number of other ingredients, while the new one noticeably is said to be made with apricot pulp and no soy sauce. The list of ingredients here is much shorter as well.

Demi goes on to say that the new sauce is ‘disgusting’, and claims McDonald’s ‘really messed up the best sauce’.

And she’s not the only one that feels this way. In her comments people thanked her for sharing as they’d also noticed that something wasn’t right.

@bellsfaith_xo replied: ‘I knew it tasted different! I thought it was just me arghh.’ While @@cvltured said: ‘Why do these companies change things that don’t need to be changing.’

@thenittysoftiktokofficial wrote: ‘How dare they change it without asking us. Not even joking I love this stuff.’

And @rachellehoy2 added: ‘Thought it tasted more like the curry one, thought I’d picked the wrong one at first.’

If you’re also feeling upset about the change, don’t panic too much as it seems it might not be a permanent one, as it sounds like a supply issue.

A McDonald’s spokesperson told Metro: ‘We love how much our customers care about the little details, and some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a slight difference in our Sweet and Sour dip.

‘This is because we are currently using a contingency supplier, who also creates dips for McDonald’s in Germany. While the recipe has a very minor variation, it has been fully approved by McDonald’s and …read more
