Hope Street spoilers follow.
There was devastation aplenty in Port Devine during Friday’s (November 8) episode of Hope Street, with Barry Pettigrew (Des McAleer), a mainstay of the BBC One series for over three years, tragically passing away.
Retired police officer Barry was found unresponsive by stepdaughter Marlene (Kerri Quinn) after he failed to return home from a trip out in his boat.
Eve Dunlop (Tara Lynne O’Neill), the new police inspector, was right by her side as she made the discovery, offering her condolences in what proved to be incredibly emotional scenes.
No, you’re crying.
Barry, like many of Hope Street’s finest, made his debut in the very first episode.
The dynamics he shared with Marlene and Concepta O’Hare (Brid Brennan), plus the way he always looked out for Finn (Ciaran McMenamin), made for many a great moment over the years.
