There are fears of major disruption at Gatwick Airport as planes are currently unable to take off or land there.

Plane tracking data shows several aircraft being held both in the airspace near to Gatwick and above the English Channel.

It’s thought the take-off of a British Airways flight to Vancouver, Canada had to be aborted, according to flight tracking data, but this has not yet been confirmed.

One passenger says a plane has been sat on the runway blocking others from taking off or landing.

Gatwick’s fire service is in attendance and planes are being diverted to other airports.
