Kelsey Grammer has teased a possible Only Fools and Horses reunion in an upcoming episode of Frasier, insisting that it ‘makes sense’.

Fans went wild last year after it was announced that Nicholas Lyndhurst, who starred as Rodney Trotter in the classic BBC sitcom, had joined the cast of the Paramount+ revival of Frasier.

He steals every scene as lazy Harvard professor Alan Cornwall, a colleague and close friend of the stuffy psychiatrist.

It’s fair to say that the second the revival was announced, fans began calling out for Sir David Jason to get involved in some way, reuniting Nicholas with his former castmate and bringing a touch of the Peckham magic to Boston.

When asked about whether we could see the comedy legend make a mini cameo at some point soon, in a conversation with Metro, Kelsey didn’t quite rule out the possibility of a tie-in.

‘It makes sense. Who knows? I mean, he could just walk by and say “Dipstick”, couldn’t he?,’ he laughed. ‘It might be really fun to have Alan maybe watching it, watching the old show or something?

‘There’s any number of ways to maybe make that connection, because, of course it is a nostalgic show and Nick has such a huge, huge presence in the UK – with good reason!

‘He’s one of the best actors who ever lived. There’s no question about his abilities and he’s beloved, so we’ll mine that as much as we possibly can.

‘He’s remarkable. I and the writers were talking about, “Boy, I can’t wait until maybe next season where Frasier doesn’t even have to do anything at all, we’ll just let Nick have the show”.

‘We’re really looking forward to what that one might be. We’ve set it up well enough to have him take the reins of the A story in a show pretty soon. We’re working up to that now.’

Only Fools and Horses originally ran between 1981 and 1991 before returning for a string of special episodes between 1991 and 2003.

It is seen as one of the most popular British shows of all time, and followed the lives of half-brothers Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter and his younger brother, Rodney,as they attempted to get rich, usually through ridiculous schemes.

Sir David isn’t the only famous face that Kelsey has got his eye on for the Frasier reboot – including the return of a very unusual characters.

We were first introduced to the radio shrink in Cheers, before he landed his very own spin-off alongside David Hyde Pierce, John Mahoney, Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin.
