Harry Kane has hailed Thomas Tuchel as a ‘fantastic coach and a fantastic person’ after the former Chelsea manager was linked with the England job.

The Football Association are still seeking a permanent replacement for Gareth Southgate having appointed Lee Carsley as interim manager for England’s six Nations League games across September, October and November.

It’s understood that the FA have held talks with Tuchel, and reports have claimed that the 51-year-old would be open to managing the national side.

Kane worked alongside Tuchel at Bayern Munich last season and the England captain has appeared to endorse the FA’s approach.

‘To be honest, I haven’t heard anything specific about it yet. That’s why I can’t really comment on it until it’s officially announced,’ Kane told Sky Sports Germany.

‘We’ll have to wait and see what happens. I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year.

‘He’s a fantastic coach and a fantastic person. I’m sure the FA will contact me when they know more about this issue.’

Tuchel has won league titles with both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, while the won the Champions League during his time at Chelsea.

The German, who is currently out of work after he agreed to leave Bayern at the end of last season, has also held talks with Manchester United about replacing Erik ten Hag.

Elsewhere, the FA has also made an informal approach for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

The Catalan is out of contract with City at the end of the season but has not ruled out extending his stay with the Premier League champions.
