Guy Ritchie and his new big budget series have been targeted by thieves.

The legendary filmmaker is currently in London working on Paramount+ show The Associate – which stars the likes of Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan – but a real life heist has rocked production.

In something out of his 2000 crime comedy Snatch, two men reportedly turned up in a Toyota Prius and distracted everyone while a third person stole some camera equipment at the side of the road.

‘Guy had shut roads for the shoot and the production was teeming with security and crew,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘Out of nowhere, two blokes arrived in a Prius and started asking for directions.

‘Their questions distracted people and at that moment, the other bloke jumped out and grabbed a bag of camera equipment that was on the side of the road.

‘He jumped back in the car and they sped off. The security guards started going bananas because they’d basically been robbed in broad daylight.’

It’s been described as an ’embarrassing and costly’ mishap, given the nature of the incident.

‘It was pretty embarrassing and a costly mistake,’ the source added. ‘The kit on those films isn’t cheap.’

The new programme sees the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director working with Hollywood royalty for the new project.

It will follow some ‘fixers’ – essentially gangsters – who run various wheeler-dealer businesses.

He’s already had success on streaming, with his recent Netflix hit The Gentlemen watched over 45 million times over its first month.
