Footage has emerged of Ferrari Formula One driver Charles Leclerc being involved in a fender bender while driving around Monaco.

While he may not be involved in the title fight with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, Leclerc has enjoyed a memorable 2024 so far.

The 26-year-old won his home race in Monaco back in May before claiming a stunning victory at the Italian Grand Prix last Sunday to the delight of Ferrari’s fans, the Tifosi.

But just a few days on from that glorious occasion, the Monegasque star was caught having a rather embarrassing moment on the roads of his hometown.

A video that was first posted on TikTok appears to show Leclerc driving his Ferrari Purosangue into the back of another car at the world famous Fairmont Hairpin.

Thankfully the fender bender only occurred at very low speed and neither car appeared to be damaged, with both driving away ok.

Fans have jokingly claimed this incident is the poof that Leclerc’s ‘Monaco curse’ has continued after the racer was involved in a number of crashes and unfortunate incidents at his home grand prix going back to his Formula 2 days.

This also includes wrecking F1 legend Niki Lauda’s priceless, 1974 championship winning Ferrari during a demo run in 2022.

Leclerc had last week driven his Purosangue, said to be worth around £303,000, to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix where he put in one of his career-best performances to beat the McLarens of Norris and Oscar Piastri.

‘Just as sweet [a win] as the 2019 one. I thought the first one was always going to be more special if there was a second one ever happening, but actually it’s not the case,’ Leclerc said after the race.

‘The second one just feels as special. I did not expect it going to the race.

‘I thought that we would struggle a bit more compared to the McLaren, but also compared to the Mercedes. However, after a few laps, I saw and I felt the car was in a good place.

‘To stand up on that podium in front of all the Tifosi after such a week, because it’s a very tiring one… It’s an incredible feeling to be racing for Ferrari in Monza, but it’s also very tiring. And to be able to win here is extremely special.’

Leclerc will not be in action at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 15.
