Dr Disrespect is not quitting despite everything (YouTube)
YouTube streamer Dr Disrespect admits that he did send inappropriate texts to a minor but he vows to go on as a streamer.
Dr Disrespect, real name Guy Beahm, was suddenly banned, without public explanation, on Twitch in 2020, with an ensuing legal battle between the two ending in a settlement where neither side admitted wrongdoing.
Because of non-disclosure agreements, it was believed that we would never know why Dr Disrespect was permanently banned on the platform. But ex-Twitch employees came forward last week saying it was because the streamer had been ‘sexting a minor’.
The accusations have resulted in Dr Disrespect being kicked out of his own video games studio, which in turn has led to him making a public, where he admits to the allegations, saying that the messages ‘sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate’.
‘Were there Twitch Whisper messages with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes. Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not-‘
‘These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed, I never even met the individual.
‘I went through a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with Twitch and that case was resolved by a settlement. Let me be clear, it was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me,’ Dr Disrespect said on Twitter.
Following the accusations, and Dr Disrespect’s exit from developer Midnight Society, fellow co-founder, and studio head, Robert Bowling made his position clear:

Dr Disrespect said he takes responsibility for his actions and apologised to his community, but was otherwise his usual, aggressive self.
‘I’ve seen all the remarks and labels being throw around so loosely. Social media is a destruction zone. I’m no f****** predator or paedophile. Are you kidding me? […] Don’t be labelling me as the worst of the worst with your exaggerations,’ he said, and added:
‘But trust me when I say this… to all my haters that live and breath social media with zero real life experience, I don’t give a f*** about you.’
Dr Disrespect gets a message during stream today, causing his mood to immediately shift.
This came before announcing he would be taking a break, and that 12AM was parting ways with him. Feels very similar to the moment 4 years ago

During his most recent stream Dr Disrespect got upset when he appeared to get a text message on his phone, which many believe was the text informing him that he had been kicked out of Midnight Society. He the started talking about taking an ‘indefinite’ break from streaming.
