A notorious murderer who killed three women in the noughties has been attacked in prison by a friend of one of his victims, insiders say.
Serial killer Stephen Griffiths nicknamed himself the ‘Crossbow Cannibal’ after murdering Suzanne Blamires, Shelley Armitage, and Susan Rushworth in 2009 and 2010.
He was sentenced to a whole life order in 2010 for the ‘wicked and monstrous’ murders of the three women in Bradford – but he’s now recovering in the prison hospital wing after being attacked.
Griffiths reportedly crossed paths with a fellow inmate who had been friends with Suzanne and was angry he had been put in the same wing as her killer.
An insider said the inmate ‘sent Griffiths flying and knocked him out’ after punching him in the face inside a corridor of the prison.
It is understood Griffiths suffered injuries to the face and was ‘knocked unconscious’ when he fell back from the force of the blow.

The insider said: ‘The inmate said they knew Suzanne, Griffiths’ victim, and had grown up with her. They were unhappy being on a wing with their friend’s killer.
“I don’t know how Griffiths came to know that he knew Suzanne. The inmate was worried they would be attacked themselves.
‘The inmate who attacked Griffiths felt that Griffiths was going to hurt him.
‘Either Wednesday or Thursday, the inmate sent Griffiths flying and knocked him out.
‘No weapon was used, but the inmate isn’t “soft” – Griffiths was thrown like six feet backwards and the attack knocked Griffiths spark out.
‘I understand there was some blood, so the force caused some sort of lesion.
‘The inmate has now been put on “basic” for a month, as is the case when there is any kind of violence on the wing.
‘I think Griffiths went to the hospital wing. He had some bruises to the face.’
Griffiths claimed he had ‘killed loads’ after he was arrested for the murders of Suzanne, Shelley, and Susan.
He used a crossbow and a knife to kill his victims before dismembering and eating parts of their corpses.
He was arrested in 2010 after he was caught on CCTV attacking Suzanne at his block of flats, and the footage was found by a caretaker.

Her remains were found in the River Aire in Yorkshire in May 2010. She had died from severe head injuries caused by a crossbow bolt and had also suffered knife wounds.
Griffiths also told police he had ‘eaten some of her, adding ‘that’s part of the magic’.
Police had also been investigating Shelley and Susan’s disappearances, and after Suzanne’s body was found, he was charged with murdering the three women.
Other human tissue found in the same river was later identified as belonging to Shelley, but none of Susan’s remains have ever
