Cole Palmer remains in the race to be available for Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was unable to train earlier this week after injuring his left knee in a heavy challenge from Lisandro Martinez during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United last Sunday.

Palmer was already sidelined for Chelsea’s 8-0 win over Noah in the Conference League on Thursday as he is not part of Enzo Maresca’s European squad.

However, the England international was in attendance at Stamford Bridge to watch his teammates.

Speaking after the win over Noah, Maresca said he was hopeful that Palmer would take part in training on Friday or Saturday before Chelsea host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

And it appears Palmer is doing everything he can to make himself available for Maresca as he uploaded a picture of himself in training kit to Instagram on Friday evening while he received cold-compression therapy on his injured knee at Chelsea’s training ground.

When asked about Palmer’s condition on Thursday night, Maresca said: ‘He’s better. He’s getting better.

‘If he can walk and have dinner, that doesn’t mean he is completely fit.

‘He is getting better and we still have two days to prepare for the game.

‘Hopefully, we can have him for a session, at least on Saturday, and then we take a decision.’

Chelsea could move up to third in the Premier League table with a win over Arsenal, who are looking to bounce back after defeats to Newcastle United and Inter.
