A Hollywood power couple who last appeared on screen together three years ago are set to team up again in a new blockbuster.

In recent weeks it’s been reported that Christopher Nolan is working on a film for Universal following the success of Oppenheimer last year.

The 54-year-old director has previously been at the helm of other huge hits like The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet.

Now he’s said to be preparing his next big project, which is planned to be released in July 2026.

The genre and plot of the film has not yet been confirmed, however its set to star several massive actors, including Matt Damon and Tom Holland, who were first rumoured to be part of the cast last month.

This week it was then reported by Deadline that Anne Hathaway and Zendaya had also signed up.

The movie is expected to start shooting early next year, however the publication said sources noted that loglines or descriptions of the film that have been published to date are wrong, and details are being kept under wraps.

The project would mark Zendaya’s first appearance in a Nolan film, while it would be the third for Anne, who appeared in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises and 2014’s Interstellar.

The last time Tom and Zendaya, who met during the audition process for Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016, appeared in a movie together was 2022’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

It’s been a busy year for the couple, with Tom starring as Romeo in the West End production of Romeo and Juliet for 12 weeks which started in May.

He’s also set to film the Nolan film alongside his fourth Spider-Man film and Avengers: Doomsday next year.

Meanwhile Zendaya appeared in Dune: Part Two, which grossed more than $700 million (£541 million) at the worldwide box office earlier this year.

That was followed by Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, in which she starred alongside Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist.

Speaking on Good Morning America last month about working with Nolan, Tom said he was ‘incredibly excited’.

‘And obviously honoured, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know,’ he said, adding receiving the phone call was ‘reminiscent of getting the call about Spider-Man 10 years ago’.

Oppenheimer brought Nolan several accolades, including seven Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and acting prizes for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.

It also grossed a staggering $976 (£755) million worldwide.

Asked about replicating its success for his next project, Nolan previously said: ‘I think you can’t worry too much about the …read more
