President Joe Biden admitted he ‘screwed up’ and was ‘knocked down’ in the first debate, as ex-President Donald Trump called him a ‘broken down pile of c**p’.

Biden on Thursday, a week after debating Trump, owned up to his disastrous performance but vowed to continue his presidency in the face of some calls for him to withdraw.

‘The fact of the matter is that I screwed up. I made a mistake,’ Biden told WAUK radio host Earl Ingram.

‘But I learned from my father, when you get knocked down, just get back up. And you know, we’re gonna win this election. We’re gonna just beat Donald Trump as much as we did in 2020.’

Biden also told WURD host Andrea Lawful-Sanders ‘no’, when asked if Americans should be worried after the debate in which he stumbled on words and was at times incomprehensible.

‘I had a bad debate,’ Biden laughed. ‘But 90 minutes on stage does not erase what I’ve done for three and a half years.’

The president sought to dispel concerns around his fitness to run for reelection just hours after Trump shared a video of himself ridiculing him and Vice President Kamala Harris, whom some Democrats believe will be the replacement.

In the clip Trump shared on Truth Social late Wednesday, he sits next to his 18-year-old son Barron on a golf cart and speaks to others who are not in the frame.

‘How did I do with the debate the other night? I kicked that old, broken down pile of c**p,’ Trump said, referring to Biden.

‘He just quit, you know – he’s quitting the race… and that means we have Kamala. I think she’s going to be better. She’s bad. She’s so pathetic.’

Trump then returned to taking shots at Biden.

‘Can you imagine, dealing with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, the president of China – who’s a fierce person, he’s a fierce man, a very tough guy,’ he said.

Biden is scrambling to salvage his reelection campaign through numerous media interviews and public appearances in the coming days. He is scheduled for an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopolous on Friday morning that will air that night.

The president is also holding a press conference at the NATO summit he is hosting in Washington, DC, next week.

Biden reportedly told an ally that ‘he knows if he has two more events like’ the debate debacle, he may not be able to save his reelection bid.
