If there’s one thing at the heart of every soap, it’s faaaamily (We hope you read that in the voice of Peggy Mitchell).

From the Mitchells in EastEnders to the Dingles in Emmerdale, the Barlows in Coronation Street to the McQueens in Hollyoaks, our favourite soap families have become a part of the furniture.

But, did you know that it isn’t just on screen that some of our favourite soap stars are related?

It seems that showbusiness runs in the family for a whole host of stars, with multiple members of the same family have hit our screens in some of our favourite soap.

Emmerdale star William Ash has been playing Caleb Miligan since December 2022, but did you know he’s not the only Ash in an ITV soap?

His cousin is the one and only Peter Ash, who plays Paul Foreman in Coronation Street.

Peter revealed the connection in a tweet back in 2022 that praised Will for his work.

Peter has appeared in Coronation Street since 2019 as Paul Foreman and cites Will, who also starred in BBC drama Waterloo Road, as his inspiration to start acting.

Paul was diagnosed with MND last year, and his condition has deteriorated over the last few months.

In upcoming scenes, he is set to face a huge shock when Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) reveals that he is his brother. How will he react?

Will’s character Caleb has been dealing with the sudden arrival of wife Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) and the whole host of chaos she has brought with her.

Recent scenes saw the couple left reeling after son Nicky Miligan (Lewis Cope) was left injured in a car accident – and Ruby was quick to get her revenge on the culprit…

Jill Halfpenny is a British television icon, who has appeared in not one but two soaps: Coronation Street and EastEnders.

However, niece Chelsea completes the hattrick, after a stint in Emmerdale.

Jill played the role of Rebecca Hopkins, a nurse who had an affair with Martin Platt, in Coronation Street between 1999 and 2000.

In 2002, she arrived on EastEnders as undercover policewoman Kate Morton, sent to honey trap Phil Mitchell. Of course, things went awry and she soon became Kate Mitchell, after marrying the Walford bad boy. Jill left EastEnders and Kate’s iconic nail salon behind in 2005.

In 2010, Chelsea Halfpenny made her soap debut in the role of Amy Wyatt in Emmerdale. There was a huge reaction to the storyline that saw Amy give …read more
