SAN JOSE – A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a driver Tuesday morning in San Jose, according to authorities.

San Jose: Police detail fatal motorcycle collision with semi-truck

The fatal crash happened around 11:40 a.m. near the ramp from East Capitol Expressway to northbound Interstate 680, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee.

The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lee said.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the bicyclist’s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is identified.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The collision remains under investigation, but alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors, Lee said. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet when the crash happened.
