Swift is known for bringing up-and-coming artists on tour with her. Carpenter was one of the opening acts on The Eras Tour. That tour was many fans’ first introduction to Carpenter as a musician.

During a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, the “Espresso” singer discussed her feelings about Swift as an artist and as a person. “She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realize I needed those songs,” Carpenter said. “We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration. She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s also one of my favorites.” It’s interesting that Swift showed Carpenter that song, as it’s based on a quote from Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Carpenter is a former Disney star from the television show Girl Meets World.

“I’m still on the tour into next year and have been learning as much as I can along the way,” she added. “I actually feel bad about how many shows I’ve been to because so many people want to see this show, so I feel lucky and privileged to have seen it as many times as I have!”
