BERKELEY — A fisherman was arrested Sunday for allegedly stabbing a windsurfer who had tangled his fishing line, causing him to lose his pole, authorities said.
The windsurfer, a man in his 50s, was taken to a hospital for treatment. It was not clear if he was still hospitalized Tuesday.
The stabbing happened about 3:10 p.m. Sunday at the Berkeley Marina near the former site of HS Lordships restaurant in the 100 block of Seawall Drive.

Police said the victim had been windsurfing off shore when his equipment became entangled in the suspect’s fishing line, causing him to lose his pole in the water.
When the windsurfer got back to shore, he was confronted by the suspect, who allegedly stabbed him in the shoulder, Officer Byron White said. The injury was not believed to be life-threatening, authorities added.
The suspect, a 31-year-old Hercules man, was spotted by police driving away from the scene. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the man.
He was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon but later made bail, authorities said. A future court date for him was not available.
