Country music singer Lee Greenwood, who performed at President Trump’s midterm convention in Texas last week, announced on Monday that Trump has nominated his wife, Kim Greenwood, for the positions of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Barbados and, concurrently, to the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mr. Greenwood shared a photo of his wife and wrote on social media: “My heart is overflowing with pride today as I share that President Donald J. Trump has nominated my beautiful wife, Kimberly Payne Greenwood.”
He also noted that his wife “worked with President Trump for 18 years through the Miss Universe Organization while directing multiple state pageants, and I am deeply grateful for the confidence he has once again placed in her through this nomination.”

While several X users asked how Mrs. Greenwood is qualified for the position, Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, replied to the news: “Love you both!!! Congratulations to the amazing @TheKimGreenwood – no one better!!”
Trump’s senior advisor to the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), Kari Lake, who has been nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica, also replied, “Congratulations, Kimberly. You are going to be an incredible Ambassador.”

She joined the Foreign Service in 1979. In 1987, Taglialatela worked at the embassy in Berne, Switzerland; in 1989 she joined the Office of Resource Management and Organization Analysis in Washington, D.C., and in 2002 became Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Human Resources.
