The deaths of four people — including two children — in a suspicious extra alarm West Englewood neighborhood fire have all been rules homicides, officials said Thursday afternoon.
Autopsies performed Thursday by the Cook County medical examiner’s office determined they died of thermal injuries and carbon monoxide toxicity due to the fire, according to the medical examiner’s office. Their deaths, including 8-year-old Royalty Ratler, were ruled a homicides.
The blaze erupted early Wednesday in a house in the 6200 block of South Paulina Street, and left Royalty, an unidentified 15-year-old boy, 57-year-old Lisa Brown and 57-year-old Reginald Lee Wilson dead. Two other people remain in critical condition, officials said.
Police are investigating the blaze in the 6200 block of South Paulina Street as arson.
