Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner continue to prove that divorced celebrity couples can spend time together amicably. The couple tied the knot in 2005 — a year after Affleck and Jennifer Lopez broke off their engagement. Garner and Affleck split in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018. After finalizing the split, the exes decided to spend Thanksgiving together. Here’s why.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner spent Thanksgiving together a month after finalizing their divorce
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are among Hollywood’s most amicable ex-couples. The exes split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage and vowed to co-parent for the good of their kids. They finalized their divorce in 2018, three years after their initial split. At the time, their kids, Violet, Fin, and Samuel, were 12, 9, and 6, respectively.
In 2018, an insider told People that Affleck and Garner spent Thanksgiving together a month after finalizing their divorce. “Jen, Ben, and the kids were in Montana for Thanksgiving,” the source explained. “This was long planned. They always celebrate big holidays together as a family.”
A friend of Garner and Affleck also noted, “The family all spent Thanksgiving together, and they all cooked.”
This isn’t the only Thanksgiving that the exes spent together. In 2019, Garner and Affleck reunited to spend the holiday together again with their kids.
“They all celebrated Thanksgiving together,” an insider told People at the time.
“Ben looks great,” another source said. “He returned to L.A. to have a fun Thanksgiving with his kids.” The source added, “They all took the kids to the movies.”
So, why did Garner and Affleck reunite once more for the food-centric holiday? For them, it’s all about making sure the kids know they come first. “It’s very important for both Jennifer and Ben that they celebrate all the holidays together as a family,” the first insider in 2019 told People.
