SAN JOSE — A man suspected of intruding on a girls’ locker room and recording students earlier this week has been arrested, according to San Jose police.
Police officers were called at 2:26 p.m. Monday for a trespassing report at Bret Harte Middle School, and school staff told them that a man entered the girls’ locker room occupied by female students. The man “had a mobile device and used it to record inside of the locker room,” police said.
When staff confronted the man, he fled. An ensuing investigation by the SJPD Sexual Assault Investigations Unit, as well as a canvass of the neighborhood, led to 41-year-old San Jose resident Trevis Street being identified as suspect.
After obtaining an arrest warrant, police said they located and arrested Street in San Jose on Wednesday and booked him on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material and recording minors with a hidden camera in a private area.

Jail records show Street is being held in the Elmwood men’s jail in Milpitas in lieu of $1 million bail. Court records indicate that Street has three active court cases — two felonies and one misdemeanor — that have been suspended pending a mental competency examination assessing his fitness to participate in his own legal defense and stand trial. Records also show he has been seen in mental health court in Santa Clara County.
