Douglas County officials ordered mandatory evacuations after a wildfire sparked south of Franktown on Tuesday afternoon, sheriff and fire officials said.
People living between Lake Gulch and Greenland roads and from Dahlberg Road to Colorado 83 should evacuate immediately, the Franktown Fire Protection District said on Facebook.
An evacuation center is set up at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, and animals must stay in trailers or vehicles. Anyone who needs help evacuating should call 911 immediately.
Fire officials first reported the grass fire burning on 5 acres of “light flashy fuels” near Dahlberg and Lake Gulch roads just before 1 p.m.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
