Aidan Hutchinson and the Detroit Lions wrapped up their 2025-26 season with a brag-worthy win over their former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears in the Windy Season with a 19-16 final tally.
So, even though the Detroit Lions aren’t in the playoffs this year, they’re still looking back on the season and celebrating the little victories. It wasn’t a terrible season. Sure, it didn’t end the way anyone in the Lions’ camp wanted, but the statistics show good things happened.
The Detroit Lions’ postseason hopes went out the window on December 25 after a loss to NFC North rivals the Minnesota Vikings, but that loss was dimmed a bit after beating the Bears in the following week. The Chicago games marked the last time this Detroit Lions team would take the field together before contracts are changed and coaching changes are made. Now, the Lions have announced news on edge rusher Hutchinson after the season has closed out.

On Thursday, January 8, the Detroit Lions took to social media to announce that Hutchinson’s 14.5 sacks tie Ziggy Ansah for the second most in Lions second-season history. “Career-high marks for Aidan,” they stated.
“Congratulations, now let’s get that record next year,” one follower said on X. “Hutch on that 2014 line breaks records, get him some help, and hopefully the injury bug stays away from the team next year,” another added.
According to NFL research, St. Brown ended the 2025-26 season with career-high stats of 14.5 sacks, 54 total tackles, four forced fumbles, leading the NFL, and three passes defensed in 17 games. He had 6.0 sacks in the final four games.
Dan Campbell Comments on Detroit Lions’ Final Game of the Season
Following the Lions’ victory over the Bears on Sunday, January 4, Campbell praised his team. He talked about them playing complementary football.
“Look, we were able to get off the field, and so we didn’t get any of these explosive runs,” Campbell said. “They hit a couple, but, okay, seven yard gain and able to get two more stops, we get off the field, and so the three-and-outs were big. Then we were able to control it on offense.”
Campbell continued, “We had some long drives. Took up a lot of the clock. Conversions, we got to turn those into touchdowns. Ultimately, makes it hard when you’re the other play caller on the other sign sideline and your offense can’t stay on the field. You just went through three plays and you’re like, ‘Okay, what’s going on?’ You start going through the ‘What should we get to?’ Well, you only ran three plays. Then, you come back and now you’ve only run six plays.”
So, Campbell said that it’s difficult to find “what you want to get to, what you’re trying to set up for the next time, if you’re able to go three and out or six and out, you know, and so that was big for our defense. They really set the tone for the day. There again, just complementary football.”
