With the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2025 season over, Travis Kelce once again found himself answering questions about his future in football. After the final game, he spoke about the decision ahead while also sharing news tied to his charitable work in Kansas City.


Travis Kelce Highlights Charity Success As Season Ends

Kelce and the Chiefs closed the regular season Sunday with a 14-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, finishing at 6-11 and missing the postseason for the first time since Kelce’s second NFL season in 2014.

In the hours leading up to the finale, attention shifted briefly away from Kelce’s on-field future. His foundation, Eighty-Seven & Running, shared an update on Instagram announcing that a holiday gift drive had successfully supported more than 3,000 local families.

This holiday season, over 3000 @operationbreakthrough families in Kansas City were provided with gifts and essential needs from @newheightshow x @amazon,the foundation wrote, alongside video footage showing hundreds of empty boxes inside a warehouse.

Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, first announced the initiative in December on their podcast,New Heights.The effort partnered with Operation Breakthrough, with fans contributing through a public Amazon wish list.

Kelce, 36, has worked closely with Operation Breakthrough throughout his 13-year career in Kansas City. Earlier this season, children from the organization’s Ignition Lab helped design hisMy Cause My Cleatsfootwear.

After the loss, Kelce spoke with reporters in the locker room and confirmed that discussions about his future will begin with meetings involving Chiefs leadership.

I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow and get close to the family and figure things out,Kelce said.

Asked whether he plans to take time away from the emotions of the season before deciding, Kelce said the process may take longer than it did a year ago.

“Who knows?he said.Either it hits me quick or I’ve got to take some time. Last year was a little bit easier. I think I knew right away I wanted to kind of give this one a shot. So I dunno. We’ll see.”

Kelce previously stated that he intends to make a decision before free agency opens in March to give the organization time to prepare.

I’d like to make that decision before they’ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens,he said last month.


Patrick Mahomes Reflects On Partnership With Travis Kelce

Chiefs quarterback and one of Kelce’s besties, Patrick Mahomes, addressed Kelce’s future earlier this season and emphasized how much the organization values their time together.

“Every season that I’ve had with him these last few years, I try to cherish because you never know,Mahomes said.He got himself in great shape this year and he’s played great football, and he’ll have the option to do whatever he wants to do after this season.”

Mahomes also noted Kelce’s focus during the final weeks of the year, despite the team’s fading playoff chances.

“I know one thing is he’ll give everything he has the rest of this season to try and give us a chance,Mahomes said.

Kelce finishes the year as a seven-time All-Pro, 11-time Pro Bowler, and three-time Super Bowl champion. His career earnings exceed $111 million, according to Spotrac, not including endorsement deals.
