Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are celebrating the new year with their final game of the season, and it’s against the 2-14 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, January 4, on the road. Meanwhile, Kelce’s future wife, Taylor Swift, is making waves the same week as what may be Kelce’s final game in the NFL.
It’s been a big year for Swift. Not only did she and Kelce get engaged in August, but the singer, of course, released her 12th studio album, “The Lift of a Showgirl,” on October 13. The album debuted on top of the Billboard 200 when it was released and broke records from the start. The record debuted with more than four million equivalent units to make it the highest debut ever. It beat the previous recordholder, Adele with “25,” which debuted with just less than 3.5 million units.
“I wanted melodies that were so infectious that you were almost angry at it and lyrics that are just as vivid, but crisp and focused and completely intentional,” Swift said of the album on the “New Heights” podcast.
Taylor Swift Spreads Holiday Joy Ahead of Kansas City Chiefs vs. Raiders Game
During the holidays, Swift donated to both Nashville’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Kansas City charity Operation Breakthrough. This is on top of donations that Swift has made this season to Feeding America, the American Heart Association, MusiCares, CMA Foundation and ACM Lifting Lives. Plus, on Christmas Day, Swift also gave generous tips to staffers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center announced the news of Swift’s donation on Tuesday, December 30, stating that she donated to both the hospital and its Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program.
“We are so grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous gifts to Monroe Carell. She is a true partner as we strive to provide a brighter, healthier future for the children and communities we serve,” Juan C. Salazar, MD, MPH, chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Health, system pediatrician-in-chief for Monroe Carell, and James C. Overall Professor, said in a joint statement.
They added, “These gifts are so timely — of course, it is the holiday season, when a hospital stay is especially tough. And we are also seeing continued increases in the number of patients and families who turn to us for care. This makes a difference for us all.”
More Kudos for Taylor Swift
Operation Breakthrough has the mission to provide “a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education,” according to its official website.
“The future of adolescent and young adult cancer research and care is full of progress and possibilities because of the generosity of donors like Taylor Swift,” Debra Friedman, MD, MS, director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Monroe Carell and holder of the E. Bronson Ingram Chair in Pediatric Oncology, added of Swift’s donation. “Her gift enables our teams to personalize cancer care for the unique challenges these patients face, leading to improved outcomes.”
