LA Daily News All-Area Girls Volleyball Team for 2025

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Lucky Fasavalu, Sierra Canyon, Junior

Fasavalu’s touch, athleticism and torching top-spin serve were vital for Sierra Canyon as it won the Mission League title — going undefeated in league — and won the CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship. The Missouri commit was chosen CIF-SS Division 1 player of the year.

Fasavalu consistently showed up in big moments. She led the Trailblazers in their win over Mater Dei in the Division 1 finals with 36 assists, six digs, six blocks and three aces.

The setter finished her junior season with 1,032 assists, 248 digs, 44 blocks, 87 kills and a team-high 66 aces.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Devyn Kobe, West Ranch, Sophomore 

Kobe was the focal point of the West Ranch offense as the Wildcats reached their first CIF-SS title match this season. The sophomore outside hitter added power and efficiency with her swing, totaling 435 kills and hitting .331 on the year.

Kobe totaled 24 kills and three blocks in the CIF-SS Division 2 championship match against Santa Margarita. The sophomore earned first team All-Foothill League and All-CIF honors.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Lauryn Lewis, Harvard-Westlake, Senior

The Wolverines middle blocker was all over the net defensively. The Penn commit totaled an astounding 122 total blocks, with 55 solo stuffs. Lewis capped her high school career with a Division I state championship, along with All-CIF and first-team all-Mission League honors.

Lewis added 62 digs as a middle and 226 kills while hitting .340.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Morgan Wijay, Harvard-Westlake

Wijay pulled off a lightning-fast turnaround at Harvard-Westlake. The Wolverines finished 13-15 in 2024, their second straight season below .500, but Wijay led Harvard-Westlake (28-8) to the CIF State Division I title in her first season as the team’s coach.

The Wolverines will graduate several college-bound players from their team, but they will return several starters in 2026.

ALL-AREA TEAM

Dani Clewis, West Ranch, Senior

The Wildcats setter ended her four-year varsity career with a CIF finalist plaque to go with her pair of league titles. The Gonzaga commit became West Ranch’s all-time leader in assists (2,525), blocks (153) and aces (158). She also cruised past the single-season assist record with 976. She was the All-CIF Division 2 first team and Foothill League MVP.

Kendall Omoruyi, Sierra Canyon, Junior 

The transfer from Arizona made a huge impact for the Trailblazers, contributing 291 kills and 102 blocks. She is a  Nebraska commit, and she was selected to the All-CIF Division 1 team and first team All-Mission League.

Sierra Hitchcock, Notre Dame, Sophomore

The outside hitter had 246 kills, 150 digs and 28 aces en route to being named the Angelus League MVP. Hitchcock also led the team with a .273 attacking percentage and 1.86 serve receive passing rate.

Halle Jimenez, Louisville, Senior 

Jimenez was crucial to revitalizing the Royals’ program over the past four years. The libero capped her impressive senior season with 470 digs, 60 aces and 90 assists. She was first-team All-Angelus League.

Laila Braimah, Taft, Senior 

The All-City opposite hitter had 675 kills, 405 digs, 85 blocks and 35 aces.

Saylor Halvorsen, Thousand Oaks, Sophomore

She played both outside and middle this season. Halvorsen totaled 373 kills while hitting .355 along with 147 digs and 41 blocks.

Khloe Pavia, Burroughs, Senior 

The middle hit .480 on the season with 356 kills. Pavia, a UC Santa Cruz commit, earned Pacific League MVP honors.

Alexis Cuan, Granada Hills Charter, Senior

The All-City outside hitter led Granada Hills to the state regional semifinals.

Hailey Lauritzen, Thousand Oaks, Senior

The Marmonte League MVP totaled 971 assists, 20 blocks, 171 digs and 53 aces.

Eva Jeffries, Sierra Canyon, Junior 

The Junior opposite hitter totaled 310 kills, 62 blocks, 40 aces and 261 digs en route to a sectional championship and all-CIF honors.

Jaidan Alexander, Royal, Senior

First team, All-Coastal Canyon League. Totaled 339 kills with 4.4 kills per set, 42 aces, 227 digs and 26 blocks for the Highlanders.

Arianna Ellis, El Camino Real, Senior 

The West Valley League co-player of the year and an All-City outside hitter in her first year at the position.

Lauren Lacy, Royal, Senior 

The first-team All-Coastal Canyon League setter amassed 625 assists, 158 digs, 14 blocks and 39 aces. She was also All-CIF in Division 5.

Taylor Stires, Saugus, Senior

Stires had 365 kills, 53 aces and 37 blocks and was named All-Foothill League first team as an outside hitter.

Kapri Garnett, Campbell Hall, Senior

The Michigan commit totaled 192 kills, 31 blocks and 21 aces from the right side.
