Bears WR Luther Burden hurts ankle vs. Browns

With Rome Odunze a late scratch before kickoff Sunday, the Bears needed another receiver to step up. Rookie Luther Burden did — until he left the game in the third quarter after hurting his ankle on a screen pass.

By that point, Burden had tied a career high with six catches against the Browns. His 84 receiving yards were the second most of his career.

The Bears leaned on Burden and veteran DJ Moore with Odunze out. Moore caught two touchdowns one week after posting one catch for -4 yards.

Odunze has been dealing with chronic foot issues for most of the season. After returning to practice this week, albeit in a limited fashion, Odunze was put on the Bears’ gameday roster at 10:30 a.m. His foot started to hurt as he warmed up, though, and he was ruled out before kickoff. Something similar happened to cornerback Kyler Gordon last week at Lambeau Field.

Caleb Williams went into halftime with a 120.1 passer rating, and D’Andre Swift has 42 yards and a touchdown.
It was tied for the fourth-coldest Bears game ever at Soldier Field.
Also, with Tyson Bagent unavailable, Keenum is the backup to Caleb Williams. The Bears don’t have any other quarterbacks on the active roster.
