The Toronto Blue Jays didn’t make a significant move during the Winter Meetings. Other MLB teams made some major moves. The Los Angeles Dodgers secured the top closer on the market, signing Edwin Diaz to a three-year pact. The Baltimore Orioles signed Pete Alonso while the Philadelphia Phillies orchestrated a reunion with Kyle Schwarber. However, the noise isn’t calming down around Toronto and both Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker.
Of course, the Blue Jays are active on a few different fronts. They have been exploring the trade market and could part ways with a positional player. While a Tarik Skubal trade seems unlikely, one of their rivals may land the best pitcher in baseball before the beginning of Spring Training.
Fortunately, with all of the movement going on in the league, one insider believes the Blue Jays could walk away with their own “daily double.”
Bo Bichette & Kyle Tucker Could Both Sign With Toronto
Perhaps the most prominent MLB insider, Jeff Passan, believes there is a real possibility that the Blue Jays will sign Bichette and Tucker.
“The Blue Jays have a chance to seize control of the AL East even more than they did in winning the division this year,” Passan wrote in an ESPN article on December 11th, 2025. “Whether that means signing Tucker, Bo Bichette, or both, they’re spending in the sort of fashion the Yankees and Red Sox used to — and taking advantage of the window of opportunity that presents is imperative.”
“It’s all-in time, and opportunistic maneuvering would pay huge dividends for Toronto.”
Additionally, Passan appeared on MLB Tonight on ESPN on December 10th. In that appearance, he discussed the Blue Jays, Bichette, and Tucker.
“I think there is definitely a chance the Blue Jays could land Tucker and Bichette and would make them without doubt the favorites to win the the AL,” one user on X shared of what he said.
In another clip shared on social media, Passan says, “You know they (Blue Jays) are going to get at least one of the big bats out there, and could go for the Tucker-Bichette daily double.”
The Market on Bichette & Tucker
As for Tucker, he is drawing interest from other organizations around the league. The Dodgers have interest in the slugger, but are not seeking a long-term deal.
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman cites the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and the Baltimore Orioles as three teams that have checked in on Tucker. However, shortly after Heyman shared this report, the Orioles signed Alonso.
Similar to Toronto, the Boston Red Sox are exploring the infielder market. However, the Red Sox are linked to more trade options than the Blue Jays. Some may see that as a sign that they are more likely to make a trade for an infielder rather than sign one.
Manny Randhawa has linked the rival franchise to Alex Bregman, Eugenio Suarez, Ketel Marte, Kazuma Okamoto, and Jorge Polanco. The free agent options on this list will be less pricey than Tucker and Bichette, making them more likely possibilities for Boston.
There was another recent report that the Red Sox have fallen out of Bichette’s market.
With more teams signing alternatives or linked to other options on the trade market, the Blue Jays have a real possibility of walking into Spring Training with both Tucker and Bichette in their lineup.
