A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer is under arrest and faces federal charges tied to the alleged sexual assault and robbery of multiple women in Chicago’s suburbs in 2022, prosecutors say.
Luis Uribe, 44, of Pingree Grove, is charged in a 12-page indictment with 10 counts of deprivation of civil rights under color of law, and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
Uribe was arrested Tuesday morning, prosecutors say. He appeared in custody at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse Tuesday afternoon sporting a beard and wearing a white polo shirt.
The accusations date back nearly four years and are not tied to the aggressive deportation campaign involving CBP officers that hit Chicago this fall. Uribe worked as a customs and immigration officer assigned primarily to O’Hare Airport at the time of the allegations.
The indictment handed up against Uribe offers few details but alleges crimes against four victims between Feb. 5, 2022, and Oct. 9, 2022 in Schaumburg and Naperville. It claims Uribe brandished a firearm during one alleged incident, on Oct. 2, 2022, in Schaumburg.
The feds say Uribe acted “under color of law” when he sexually assaulted and robbed two women. They say he robbed and attempted to sexually assault two others.
