Thursday saw two milestones for the coronavirus pandemic. The first was the number of confirmed cases reaching more than 500,000 and the second was the U.S. overtaking China with the most cases in the world.
As that was happening, health care workers continued their fight against COVID-19. Many were preparing for the worst if it hadn’t arrived already in New York, Chicago and elsewhere. In Spain, one of the hardest hit countries in Europe, medical workers there took time out to thank residents for their support. In Iran and Norway, workers inspected the makeshift hospitals for the influx of patients.
Health care workers continue their efforts to save lives as supplies they depend on for protection dwindle.
