Watch: Alex Rodriguez pays off bet by working in burger restaurant

Alex Rodriguez has done a heck of a job transitioning his career from hated player to beloved broadcaster. It’s moments like these that keep the goodwill going for the former slugger.

Rodriguez, who now works as an ESPN analyst, was in Boston covering the Red Sox’s Sunday Night Baseball matchup with the Houston Astros and had the chance to make good on his end of a losing bet.

In August he made a wager with movie star Mark Wahlberg, a Boston native, about a Red Sox series with the Yankees, Rodriguez’s former club. The Red Sox completed a four-game sweep, meaning A-Rod had to suit up at a Wahlburgers restaurant. The franchise, of course, is owned by Wahlberg and his brothers.

Rodgriguez detailed his day of duty in an Instagram post, complete with the Fenway Park favourite Sweet Caroline serving as the soundtrack:

Last month, @markwahlberg and his @RedSox brought the broom out and swept my @Yankees. So today, I got the mop. . It was time to me to hold up my end of the deal and report for duty to the @wahlburgers location near Fenway Park. Today, I had to do a little bit of everything – greet customers, flip burgers, clear tables, and yes, mop the bathroom floor. But what I thought was going to be a tough day turned out to be a day I really enjoyed. . The people in New England were incredibly hospitable. I’m sure they were in a great mood with both the Red Sox at home today and the @Patriots opening their season here, too. I was grateful for the way I was treated, and hey, I even got a free lunch in the deal. . It’s no surprise there more than 25 Wahlburgers locations already across the country. If there’s one near you, definitely find your way there. Delicious! . Now, I need to double down and hopefully get Mark in the Bronx sometime. #GoYankees . #beantown #patriots #celtics #redsox #sweetcaroline
