Rockies’ Jon Gray to miss rest of season because of shoulder soreness

Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray will miss the rest of the season because of continued soreness in his right shoulder, manager Bud Black said Wednesday morning.

Gray as placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation on Sept. 4, retroactive to Sept. 2. Gray and Black both had said they anticipated that Gray would be able to return this season. Black, however, said Wednesday that with just 13 games remaining in the season there would not be enough time for Gray to heal.
