Avalanche vs. Predators postponed in Nashville, NHL announces

The Avalanche traveled to Tennessee for Thanksgiving dinner, and that is all.

Colorado’s game against the Predators, scheduled for noon MT Friday, has been postponed due to a water main break at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the NHL announced Friday morning.

No makeup date has been determined yet, according to a league statement.

Suddenly, the Avalanche have not 1 but 2 red-hot goaltenders? “Unreal.”

The Avs (11-6-1) skated at their practice facility in Centennial, Colorado, then flew to Nashville on Thursday afternoon. They were set to return home after the game to host the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

Colorado defeated Nashville 5-3 at home the first time the division foes met this season. Their next scheduled game is Dec. 17 at Ball Arena. Colorado will travel to Nashville again for a scheduled game Dec. 23.

“We’ve got (Thanksgiving) dinner planned at the hotel for the staff, and then the players have it as well,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said Thursday before the team departed. Bednar is Canadian, but he lives in South Carolina in the offseason and does celebrate American Thanksgiving.

“I fry my turkeys down south, but I don’t have a fryer here,” he said. Whether or not his 2022 Thanksgiving spent in the South included a fried turkey remains unclear.
