WWE superstar Montez ford has revealed how the Street Profits started feeling ‘stagnant’ after their early success.

The former tag champion and his teammate Angelo Dawkins recently joined forces with Bobby Lashley on SmackDown to get their career back on track with a major attitude change, and their on screen shift mirrored their feelings behind the scenes.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think it’s kinda like an easy transition because we were able to apply what we’ve been feeling internally to what’s happening on camera.

‘For the last couple of years, Street Profits have had a tremendous amount of success but in a way it’s kinda stagnant, just got idle for a little while.

‘With that grows frustration and anger, because with the hunger to wanna do more, to advance and have more accomplishments in life, that frustration starts to grow.’

Despite being beloved by fans, the Profits haven’t held gold since winning the Raw Tag Team Titles back in March 2020, and putting issues like that in front of the camera was a welcome development.

‘It’s a way of showing what we internally feel like, and showing it on camera to the WWE Universe,’ Montez added. ‘It’s kinda an easy transition because once you apply something that’s really real, it’s easy for it to resonate on camera.’

The star, who is married to fellow wrestler Bianca Belair, insisted it’s hard to expect fans to support the duo if they ‘keep coming up short’, even if they’re doing everything else right.

‘You go out there, you perform for the WWE Universe, you provide an escape, you do everything that you’re supposed to do to try to win but the success doesn’t happen,’ he pondered.

‘How many times have we had title matches, and we failed? It’s very hard for a group of individuals to get behind a team that constantly – not makes them upset, but they keep coming up short, they’re not successful in there in their feats.

‘It’s very hard to get behind a team like that.’

The character shift plays perfectly into that, as Angelo and Montez get to try something new with the All Mighty by their side encouraging their new approach.
